Obituary

Reverend Steven Tyrone Murry, a God-fearing man traveling through the sands of time, often said that he wanted to be "Rapture Ready when Jesus comes. He has reached his final destination to be with the Lord. Steven was born February 4, 1969 to to Martie (Ulysses) Dunlap of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and the late Freddie (Bobby) Murry of California.

Steven chose Jesus as his Lord and Saviour at an early age. He had great desire to follow and learn more about God in his Christian walk. He attended the School of Ministry under the leadership of Reverend Patrick Lockett at New Community. He was an Associate Minister at St. Stephens COGIC Church.

Steven met and married the love of his life, LaWanda Roberson Murry, on November 24, 2012. He was a faithful, loving, and caring husband until death parted them by God.

Steven is a graduate of Pine Bluff High School. While he was in high school he worked as an intern at NCTR. After graduating from high school he started his career working for Tyson Foods for 31 years and 6 days.

Steven took pride in his job and always answered to the call of duty wherever he was needed. He was never a stranger to anyone. He loved his supervisors and co-workers and never missed the opportunity to minister the word of God to them.

Steven always had time for his family and friends, lending a helping hand when needed. He was a major influence to many. He was a husband, son, stepfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Steven is preceded in death by his father- Freddie Murry; grandparents-Calvin (Marthie) Murry, Ervin (Veba) Pennington,; brother- Raymond Sims; and sister-Sherita Murry.

Steven leaves behind to cherish his precious memories to his wife-LaWanda Murry; parents-Martie (Ulysses) Dunlap; stepmother--Bobby Murry of California; step grand-parents--Reverend Ulysses (Modine) Dunlap; stepson-Harvey Sims of Hot Springs, AR; stepdaughters-LaTonya Boston, Alexis (James) Earl both of Kansas City, MO; 11 sisters-Tonita Speights of Sacramento, CA, Trecy Day of Fairfield, CA; Sha'Nedra Murry of Vacaville, CA, Gloria Sims, Quantina Sims both of Indiana, Eula Sims of Texas, Vickey Coleman of Georgia, Alice Matthews of Little Rock, AR, Denisha Sims, Sandra Boyd both of Pine Bluff, AR, DeShanda Green of South Carolina; five brothers--Lawrence Creggett of Pine Bluff, AR, Elder Christopher (Renita) Sims, Carnell Sims both of California, Ulies Sims of Indiana, Derick Dunlap of Jacksonville, AR; 11 step grandchildren; and a host of aunts uncles, hieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
