Roosevelt Herring

Roosevelt Herring, Sr. was born to the late Myrtle Lizzie Vinson on January 13, 1941, and was raised by her and her late husband, R.D. Herring in Postelle, Arkansas. He departed this life on Sunday, March 17, 2024. He was eighty-three (83) years old.

Roosevelt was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Mary Frances Lockett on November 8, 1968, and cared for her faithfully until his health failed. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, John Herring, one sister, Joyce Hudson and three brothers, Larry, Orris and John Hearring.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of fifty-five (55) years, Mary Frances Herring; his daughter, Jackie Cross (Lynn) of Kansas City, MO; three sons: Bruce Lockett (Sonya) of Pine Bluff, AR; Rodney Lockett of Dallas, Texas; and Ty Herring (Ruby) of Raleigh, NC; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren; eight sisters: Allie Williams (Horace) and Odessa Johnson (Linwood) both of Memphis, TN; Thressa Sims (James) of West Helena, AR; Alma Moore (Stanley) of Chicago, IL; Frances Johnson of
Greensboro-High Point, NC; Naomi Curtis (Reginald) of Chicago, IL; Myrtle Mitchner (Sampson) and Katie Hollins (Jerry) both of Nashville, TN; three brothers: Sedelle Hearring (Ruby) of Pine Bluff, AR; Marion Hearring (Barbara) and Richard Hearring (Debra), both of Nashville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
