Robert Lee Simmons was born February 2, 1955, in Gould, AR to Virgil and Ethel Lee Simmons. Both preceded him in death. He was born to a family of 13 children. Four brothers, Virgil Jr., Richard Sr., Henry Sr., and John Sr., preceded him in death.
Robert confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. He graduated from Gould High School in the class of 1973.
Robert worked numerous jobs. However, his longest employment was with Akin Industries in Dumas, AR from July 2000 to September 2015. He held several positions there, planner & sander operator, Tenon machine, Chop saw operator and the Rip saw operator.
Robert had a quiet spirit but was always available to help anyone. He would often sacrifice himself if his family needed anything of him.
Robert leaves to cherish his legacy: A special friend for many years: Ms. Bessie Lewis; two daughters: Romesha Roshune Simmons (fiancé~Tadese) of Little Rock, AR and Ruby Simmons of Gould, AR. Three grandchildren: Gleniesha Brock, Jordayshia Simmons, and Ta'Riana Patrick of Little Rock, AR. Three brothers and five sisters: Gary (Toy) Simmons, Napolion (Martha Ann) Simmons, and Lee Ester Simmons all of Chicago, IL; Wayne (Lisa) Simmons Sr. of Dumas, AR; Minnie Simmons and Glenda Scott of Gould, AR; Brenda (Jimmy) Nance and Barbara Thomas of Pine Bluff, AR; Two special nieces: Frankie (Nolen) Hollinshed and Deborah (Jarian) Brooks; Three sisters-in-law; Emma Simmons, Clemitee Simmons, and Darlene Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
