Gordon was born Tuesday, January 21, 1958, to the late Martha Vata Meadors Seawood and Dr. Jame Russell Seawood in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. His Christian journey began at an early age when he was baptized by Rev. T. J. Taylor at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
Gordon attended St. Peter's Catholic School until he completed the eighth grade. Then, he attended Dollarway Junior and Senior High School. Gordon was the class president of the Senior Class of 1976. He was an excellent student, and he excelled in football and basketball. After he graduated high school, he went on to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. While attending U of A, he pledged and was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. in 1977.
Gordon was also an Honor Graduate of Breath of Life Ministry. Upon returning to Pine Bluff, he began his more than 30-year career at International Paper, now known as Evergreen.
Gordon accepted his call to the ministry on December 22, 1998. His first sermon was preached on February 20, 1999, at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor Robert Wells. Gordon united with Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in September of 1999 under Pastor G. L. Ford. In February of 2000, Gordon was ordained by Reverend G. L. Ford.
During his early ministry, he pastored for three years at First Baptist Church in Washington County, Arkansas. Later, Gordon became an associate minister at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Compassion Ministry and had recently been assigned as the minister of the Young at Heart Ministry. During his ministry, he and Rev. Larry Kirklin were greatly involved in a Prison Ministry.
In 2014, Gordon reconnected with his high school sweetheart, Lujuana M. Bankston, whom he adored. After "wearing her down" for seven years, they united in Holy Matrimony on December 31, 2021, in the presence of their children and grandchildren. Gordon loved preaching, teaching, singing, traveling, cooking, and, most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. They were the light of his life.
