Rev. Milton Jones Obituary

Milton Curtis Jones, Sr., affectionately known as "Curtis," was born on February 14, 1955, in Gethsemane, Arkansas, to Martha Morris and A.C. Reed. He entered into eternal rest on February 20, 2026.

Curtis accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. E.J. Richardson at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Gethsemane, Arkansas. His faith in God remained the foundation of his life and guided him in service, ministry, and love for others.

He attended the Wabbaseka School District and graduated with the Class of 1973. Throughout his life, Curtis was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He served as a police officer with the Stuttgart Police Department and later as a correctional officer with the Arkansas Department of Correction. He eventually found his long-term career as a truck driver, faithfully working for 26 years before retiring.

Curtis had a deep love for music, especially gospel quartet singing. His passion for sharing the Good News through song led him to perform in multiple cities across the United States. He sang with several quartet groups, including The Mighty Supremes, The Mighty Trulights, and The Soul Revivers. Music was not just a hobby for Curtis—it was a ministry.

In 1993, Curtis was ordained into the ministry under the leadership of Rev. Larry. He pastored at Kindling Star MBC in Moscow, Arkansas, and later at Gumwood Baptist Church in Keo, Arkansas He subsequently united with Union Baptist Church and later Mulberry Grove, where he faithfully served as a leader until his transition. Curtis was a devoted servant of God who sought to uplift, encourage, and shepherd God's people.

Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Clifton "A.C." Reed, Sr.; his Aunt/Mom, Patsy Morris; Uncle Fred Morris; brothers Kenneth Parker, Cleophus Levy, Charles Levy, Alvin Clifton Reed Jr., and Leodis Reed; and sisters Janette O'Neal, Mary Reed, Sheilo Reed, Patricia Reed, and Peggy Ball.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his mother, Martha Morris; his children, Stephanie (Demottie) Harris, Milton Curtis Jones, Jr., and Portia Jones; his sisters, Connie Robinson, Diane Davis, Marilyn Tyson, Terry (Earl) Howard, Janice (Verl) McGaughy, and Lenora Turner; his brothers, Greg Morris, Ronnie Morris, Larry (Marcie) Davis, Roosevelt (Cynthia) Davis, Elder Wilbur (Laura) Reed, Elder Steven (Surrenda) Reed, Alvin (Tara) Reed, and Paul (Mae) Reed. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one beloved grand-dog, Ranger, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Curtis was the life of the party and he will be remembered for his jokes and laughter, his unwavering faith, his love of family, his powerful voice in song, and his commitment to serving others. His legacy of love and ministry will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know him.
