Reverend Joe Scott. Sr. was born January 17, 1942 in Smale (Monroe County), Arkansas to the late Mr. Thomas Scott and Mrs. Maggie Elizabeth (Watson) Scott.
Reverend Scott was the second son and third child of this union. Reverend Scott was named in honor of his maternal grandfather. Reverend Scott had a productive childhood in a growing family. Reverend Scott was nurtured, loved and learned responsibility at an early age.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.Reverend Joe Scott, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior July 18, 2024.
Reverend Scott was educated in Monroe and Wabbaseka Public Schools. Reverend Scott graduated from New Tyler Barber College in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Reverend Scott was a firm believer in education and aided many in their pursuit of Education.
Reverend Scott accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior under the leadership of Rev. Ruby Atkins at New Jerusalem #2 in Wabbaseka, Arkansas. Reverend Scott. Later he moved his membership to Second Baptist. Reverend Scott was a faithful member and became an ordained Deacon under the leadership of Reverend George Wade. After moving his family to Stuttgart (by way of Jacksonville) he joined First Baptist under the leadership of Reverend D. L. O'Neal. Reverend Scott served as an ordained deacon and was ordained a Baptist Minister of the Gospel.
Reverend Scott later moved to Pine Bluff and continued to attend First Baptist. Reverend Scott re-opened the doors of New Jerusalem #2. Where he served as Pastor and spiritual leader.
Reverend Scott owned and operated various businesses in his lifetime. Reverend Scott was known for his generosity, patience and even-temper.
Reverend Scott was married to Mrs. Dovie Fairrow Scott-Holt and acquired a bonus son and four children were born of this union. Reverend Scott entered in holy matrimony to Ms. Joyce Vaughn. Later to Charlene Wilson and to this union a daughter was born who became a delight to him in his later years.
Reverend Scott was (joyously greeted in glory by ) preceded in his journey by his parents Mr. Thomas and Maggie Scott; four brothers Mr. Odell Scott, Mr. L. B. Scott, Reverend Thomas Scott, Jr. and Mr. Eugene Scott and two sisters- Ms. Frances Scott and Ms. Cleo Scott. And two precious great-grandsons Joe Steven Scott, Jr. and Justin Rashun McAfee.

Three sons Mr. Donald Adams, Mr. Joe Steven (Doris) both of Stuttgart, Arkansas and Mr. Joe Scott, Jr. of Seattle Washington. Three daughters Robin Scott and Crystal (Jacinta) Scott of Jacksonville, Arkansas and Naomi Scott of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren. Reverend Scott will be dearly missed and remembered by his family legacy.
His siblings include two brothers Mr. Malcom (Gloria) Scott of Wabbaseka, Arkansas and Mr. Aaron (Floretta) Scott of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and three sisters Mrs. Exie Green-Tate, Ms. Roslyn Scott both of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Mrs. W. Yvonne Lowe of Little Rock, Arkansas. And a host of nieces and nephews who will always remember their "Uncle Joe" with love, honor and respect. Reverend Joe Scott's name will be forever spoken and held in high esteem by cousins, in-laws, friends and business acquaintances.
