His Life

God in His infinite wisdom called His soldier Reverend J.D. (James David) Cook, Sr., from his labor on Earth's battlefield to his eternal rest in His heavenly home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
J.D. was born on August 28, 1933, to the late Hayes Cook, Jr., and the late Rosie Smith, in Grady, Arkansas. He was reared by his loving uncle and aunt, John Smith, Jr. and Elvie Smith. J.D. attended school in Grady, Arkansas.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. After being called by God to preach the gospel, J.D. became an ordained minister in 1963, under the leadership of the late Reverend S. W. Weaver -Pastor of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Grady, Arkansas.
He later joined the Marzell Missionary Baptist Church in Grady, Arkansas (now located in Gould, AR), where the pastor is the Reverend Lamar Brooks.

Although J.D. had several jobs early in life-mostly farm working, he retired as a supervisor from Planter's Oil Mill. He was also a skilled auto mechanic.
