George H. Toney, III was born March 16, 1964, to the late Ella Mae McCoy.
He was raised by Willie and Elnora Toney of Grady, AR. He departed this life on Sunday April 6, 2025, at his home.
Pastor Toney was baptized at an early age by Pastor Willie Shaw at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church in Grady AR, where he was ordained as a Deacon. He eventually united with Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor George Glass, Jr.
He united in holy wedlock with Mrs. Sherry Lambert Toney August 4th, 1990.
Pastor Toney served as the pastor of several churches, including Morning Star, Pilgrim Rest, Sixteen Section and Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Churches during his 34 years of ministry. He actively worked with Southeast District Association, Regular and Consolidated Arkansas Baptist State Conventions and the National Baptist Convention USA. He was a masonic member of Haygood Lodge #407.
His parents, one brother Robert Toney, one sister, Albertine White, an aunt, and three uncles preceded him in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include: His wife of thirty-five years, Sherry Lambert Toney; three daughters, Kimberly (Terry) Catchings, Shermeka (Brian) Poindexter, and Candace Miller; one son, Brandon Lam-bert, one sister, Kimberly Cole (Alfred) McMillion; a brother Keith (Shirley) Foster; a special niece, Patricia White; grandchildren, Taurean, Jada, Aaron, Desmond, Brayden, Tyquan (AK), Carmene', Elijah, Cariah, King, Anazye, Ansin and Aayce; a great-grandson Kaleb; one uncle, Hunter (Evelyn) Cole Sr.; one aunt, Carrie Mae Cole, and a host of other family members and friends.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.- 1 Corinthians 15:54-55
