Life’s Journey
Mother Mary Sanders, daughter of the late George & Ervin Washington, was born on January 22, 1933, in Wilkins, Arkansas. She was called home to be with the Lord on Mother’s Day Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the age of 90.
She accepted Christ at the age of 14. God crowned her with wisdom and knowledge. Mother Sanders was an outstanding Holy Ghost filled speaker, that shared God’s Word throughout her lifetime and showed love to everyone.
She was one of the oldest proud members of the Prairie Lake Church family. She served as mission and choir president, mothers’ board, member of Women Group, and a Certified Missionary. Mother Sanders’ favorite pet was our late dog named Lucky.
Mother Mary Sanders was preceded in death by her parents, husband−Deacon John Sanders; son−Johnny Sanders; sister−Addie Robinson; brothers−Andrew Washington, Rev. FerdieWashington, Charlie Washington, and Clint Reed; grandsons−Anthony McAfee and James Franklin Jr.; granddaughter−LaShanda “Spadie” Sanders; great-grandsons−Marcus McAfee and Vincent Smith
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters−Ruby McAfee and Faye Elliott; son−James (Elizabeth) Franklin; a special grandson−Jerrick Elliott all of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; sisters−Margaret Washington Lowe and Freddie Washington Johnson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and Ruby Dandridge of California; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
