The beautiful life of "Leanna" Hearn, 84, came to a close on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Baptist Health Medical Center while under Hospice Care. Leaner Caesar-Hearn was the sixth of nine siblings born to Alfonzer and Manervia Golden-Caesar on January 11, 1935 in Shady Grove Community near Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
She joined Shady Grove A.M.E. Church as a child, and she graduated from Peake High School on May 27, 1954, where she was a member of the 6-on-6 girls' basketball team as a guard. Later she met and married George Edward Hearn on February 28, 1956, and she moved her membership to Richmond Hill A.M.E. Church, where she held various offices. She always looked forward to the first Sunday in May; and those who had an affiliation to the Richmond Hill Community knew they would be getting a can from her to provide food and monetary donations for Richmond Hill's Homecoming.
After moving to the Richmond Hill Community and starting her new married life as Mrs. Hearn, she would find herself becoming a mother of her firstborn, Roy, and soon after that another blessing came in her son Troy. Then a little carbon copy of herself was born in the form of Darla. Then eight years later a pleasant surprise came, Mark. After the closing of Richmond Hill AM.E Church she became a member of Ronoake Baptist Church in Gurdon, Arkansas under the leadership of Pastor Troy Hearn, where she remained a faithful member until her health failed her.
She was a working mother who helped keep her family healthy and wealthy, and made sure her children were wise with her stern yet sound advice, much of which she referenced her father's wisdom. She worked most years at two jobs: Arkadelphia Steam Laundry and later at the former Holiday Inn in Caddo Valley. There she may have shown a little nepotism as she hired at one point in time all of her children, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. But she stopped with the favors there, because she expected you not only to do the work but do it well. She ran a tight ship, as the saying goes. And if her children did get out of line from time to time, she would let them know quickly that would not be accepted. And her quick quotes such as ''You don't believe fat meat is greasy" or "I'll give you something to cry for" when spoken, her children knew all too well she meant business!
Her children were her pride and joy, and she made sure they were God-fearing and decent individuals. She enjoyed watching her children as well as her grandchildren in their various activities such as band, football, basketball, school programs, as well as watching them excel in their education. She never missed a graduation and enjoyed celebrating birthdays. Even when her children would argue on many occasions of who was most spoiled and who was her favorite, she would always say that she loved all her children and grands: ''Y'all are ALL my favorite."
Mrs. Hearn was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers-Alfred Jack Caesar, Fred Douglas Caesar; one sister-Gracie Caesar; and one grandchild-Kendric Bearden.
Those whom she will be waiting on in Heaven are her husband of 63 years-George Edward Hearn of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; four children-Roy Dean (Ernie) Hearn of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Troy Lee (Wanda) Hearn, Darla Kay Hearn of Curtis, Arkansas, and Mark Douglas (Sharron) Hearn of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; one brother-Wesley Caesar of Sacramento, California; four sistersLorene Hearn, Morine Nelson, Katie Gibson of Sacramento, California, and Pauline Scott of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; seven grandcbildren-Troylonda Hearn of Hot Springs, Kimberly Hearn of Pine Bluff, Chris Penny of Little Rock, Treywan Hearn of Curtis, Sharrod Hearn of Arkadelphia, LeMarkus Hearn of Magnolia, and Kayla Aron of Curtis.
