Life’s Journey

Brother Jonathan “Joe” Willis departed this life Saturday, March 26, 2022. Joe was born September 26, 1940, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Anderson David (Bill) and Pearlie Mae Willis.

Joe was baptized and united with Parson Hill now Solomon Hill MBC at an early age. He was a dedicated and hard worker. He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and later lived in St. Louis, Missouri for a number of years before moving to Bartlett, Tennessee. After the death of his companion, Joe moved back to Pine Bluff, Arkansas and lived with his sister, Bessie until his death.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, first wife Mary and to that union three children were born; second wife Nellie and his companion of twenty years, Sarah Green, whom he loved and cared for until her death. Joe was preceded in death by seven siblings: Anderson “Bill” Willis, Gertrude Taylor, Dorothy Harris, Deloise Mays, Helen Paige, Clarence Willis and Eugene Willis.

To cherish his memories, Joe leaves behind three children, Jerome Willis of Pine Bluff, AR, Christine Willis and Catherine Willis of Milwaukee, WI; One brother, Felix (Sharon) Willis of Milwaukee, WI; Three sisters, Bessie Bennett of Sheridan, AR, Carolyn (Dallas) Crudup of Youngsville, NC and Joyce (David) Suggs of Pine Bluff, AR and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
