James Chavies

James Chavies was born in Pine Bluff, AR on March 17, 1931, to the proud parents of Arthur and Willie Ann Chavies. James was 1 of 11 children born to this union. The sunset of his life was June 7, 2023, at the age of 92 years old.

James was best known for his strength, fun loving personality and being a hard worker. He served his country as a member of the United States Army and was honorably discharged. After being discharged from the Army, he worked at the Post Office and as a Construction Worker until he retired.

During his life journey James met the love of his life, Jewel Jackson and to their union two sons were born, Craig and Akil Chavies. He was also the father of Gail Simon, Mary Ann, Bobby Joe, and Andre Chavies.

James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jewel Jackson-Chavies, his parents, two sons, Bobby Joe and Andre Chavies. Three brothers, Joseph, Matthew and John Chavies. Seven sisters, Rosetta Brooks, Willie Ann Scott, Catherine Ramage, Flossie Phillips, Bessie Buffington, Leola Mack and Bethel Chavies Brooks. One grandson, Jermaine Simon and one granddaughter, Najah Chavies.

James leaves to cherish his memories; daughters, Mary Ann Chavies and Gail Simon. Sons, Craig Chavies and Akil (Tanesha) Chavies. Grandchildren, Allonedues (Stacy) Chavies, Asia Chavies, Lavonza Willis, Donnell Simon, Matthew Simon, Malik Isaiah, Tiffany Chavies, Andre Chavies, Assata Chavies, Dorian Chavies, Akil Chavies Jr, and Keilan Chavies. Four great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved him and will forever cherish his memory.
