On January 27, 1931, Sister Georgia Lee Spikes, the youngest of eight children, was born to John and Georgia Turner Spikes in the Douglas Community, near Gould Arkansas. She was the baby of the family and they named her Georgia Lee.
She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Auburn Missionary Baptist Church at Douglas and served under several faithful servants of God, including: Reverend Walter Townsend, Reverend John Goodlow, Reverend Roosevelt Davis, Reverend William Jarmon and Reverend Jimmy Ray Bynum. She remained a faithful member until her health failed, which confined her to in-home care. She remained faithful.
She was educated in the public schools of Douglas and Gould, Arkansas. She worked on the family's farm, as a domestics, in public settings, a very industrious woman. She was a loving and devoted caregiver to her parents, sisters, brothers, nephews and nieces. She loved her family. A loving and caring sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor and friend.
She departed this life, Friday, November 8, 2024 at Trinity Village Nursing Center, Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her father, John Spikes, Sr., her mother, Georgia Turner Spikes, her sisters, Josie Medcalf, Willie Ann Adams, Alberta Thompson, Anner Lee Spikes, and Mattie Spikes; her brothers, John Spikes, Jr., Arthur Spikes and Eddie Spikes.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of memories to cherish by "daughter-niece" Flossie Spikes,"son-nephews" of the home, Theoplis Adams (Keisha) of Rhode Island; Darrell Spikes of Gould, Arkansas; a great, great nephew, Donovan Adams of Little Rock, and a great, great niece, Amia Adams of Gould, Arkansas and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
