Elder Thelmon Williams, Sr. completed his earthly journey at the age of 87 and transitioned to his eternal resting place on March 17, 2025. Thelmon was born on December 17,1937, to the late Willie and Flossie Williams in Swan Lake, Arkansas.
Thelmon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized on August 14, 1954. He was a faithful and dutiful member of his childhood church; New Morning Star M.B Church, at the time located in Cornerstone, AR. He was a dedicated servant until his health began to fail. Thelmon's first earthly assignment was as a Deacon. He served this role with great diligence and was later ordained as the Associate Minister of the New Morning Star M.B. Church in November of 1997. He later graduated from the Breath of Life School of Ministry and continued his education with the Pine Bluff Pastors-Ministers Association, serving as the Chaplin. He also attended The Arkansas School of the Blind in Little Rock, AR. He was often called "The Blind Traveling Preacher" because of his dedication to spreading God's Word to many nursing homes.
Thelmon was a proud graduate of Altheimer High School Class of 1957. He was a recognized basketball star and went by the name of "Judo" and was often called "Bell" or "Bill."
On May 10, 1957, Thelmon married the love of his life, Helen Ruth Sims, and inherited his oldest daughter, Vernestine. To this union, 4 more children were added — Calon, Thelmon Jr., Frederick, and
Thelmon was a hard-working man. He was employed at Sears, Roebuck and Company, for many years, until he was injured. But even after it affected his eyesight, he still worked until the pollution in California began to irritate his eyesight. One would think that he would get somewhere and sit down; but not him!
After relocating back to Arkansas, he worked on the farm for numerous years. Thelmon lived and demonstrated a life of no excuses.
Thelmon was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and was a friend to everyone he met. He never met a stranger that didn't become his friend. He was a man that could talk for hours. Along with him cracking jokes, his mouth was so smart, but he was loved and adored by many.
Thelmon has finally made it to his eternal home where he was joyously greeted in glory with open arms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Flossie Williams, his wife Helen Williams, daughter Vernestine (Gary) Henderson, son Thelmon Jr., grandson Braylin Brown, brothers Willie T. (Bernice), Louis (FannieMae), Robert (Shirley), Jimmy (Millie), Johnny (Evelyn), and Charlie (Carolyn), and his sisters Jerelene (John), Ruby, and Dorphene (Lee).
Thelmon leaves to cherish his beautiful memories in the hearts of his beloved daughter, Calon "Rudy" Williams of Stuttgart, AR, his sons Frederick Williams of Altheimer, AR, and John (Trina) Williams Sr. of Los Angeles, CA. His grandchildren, Pastor Terry Brown of Jacksonville, FL, Jermaine "BoBo" (Brandy) Brown of Altheimer, AR, and Fancy Love of Los Angeles, CA, Demi Paysinger of Stuttgart, AR, Jerrod Rankins of Altheimer, AR, Braylin Pitts of Little Rock, AR, John Williams Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Mieshal Broussard of Henderson, NV and Tiffany Williams of Pasadena, CA. His great-grandchildren, Tevin Brown of Dallas, TX, Kendall Brown of Jacksonville, FL, Jermayia Brown of England, AR, Erianna Hud son and Branson Brown of Pine Bluff, AR, Johan Williams, Chloe Williams, and Syre Williams of Los Angeles, CA, Morocco Riley, Mahani Riley, and Mali Riley of Henderson, NV. His great-great-grandchildren Gianna Brown of Dallas, TX, Ka'Vaah and Keegan Ridgle of Pine Bluff, AR. He also. leaves to cherish some heart-felt memories and funny stories with his favorite cousin Mildred and Bill Thornton (his barber). He also leaves to share his funny jokes and long talks with his nieces, nephew cousins, friends, and 2 Goddaughters, Stephanie Williams-Boyd and Chantay Collins.
