Dorothy Ester Nichols King of Gould, Arkansas, transitioned to Glory Friday March 28th, 2025.
She was born October 10, 1927, to the late John Nichols, Sr., and Estella Welch Nichols of Bastrap, Louisiana. She was the second child of eleven children. To her family she was affectionately known as Sister.
From Louisiana the family moved to McGhee, Arkansas at the age of six and later to Gould, Arkansas where she resided. She accepted Christ at an early age where her and her Daddy became members of Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
During her membership there she served as Sunday School Secretary, Church Announcer, Church Clerk and later mother became one of the Church Mothers until her health began to fail.
Only finishing the 6th grade, she later continued her education at Gould High Adult Education Program and received her GED in 1971. She was a dedicated chaperone for the 4-H Club.
She loved to cook. A lot of the children in the neighborhood came over especially when she made homemade biscuits and donuts.
She loved traveling venturing to California, Atlanta, Texas, Chicago, and always the specific details of what she saw and did.
Born during the great depression and living through it, she was a survivor making quilts to keep her family warm in the winter and Taylor made clothes for her children.
She had a strong will to survive-making a garden to make sure her children had food for the winter. She also instilled in her children to attend Sunday School, Bible Study, BTY, Church services, or just being active in some way working for the Lord.
