GAME DAY for Coach Rob
1" Quarter
Transitioning from the ball court to the heavenly court, a child, Donald Ray Robinson, Sr. (Bruce) was born August 12, 1956 to the late Lee Tom Robinson, Sr. and the late Annie B.(Crite) Robinson in Gethsemane, Arkansas (Dudley Lake area). His final buzzer buzzed on January 22, 2025.
2nd Quarter
He attended Gethsemane Elementary School and graduated from Altheimer High School in 1974. In the same year, he attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He also attended a training school with certification along with graduating from Arkansas Baptist College with his BA in Kinesiology in 2006. During his Obedient and adventurous life, he loved to attend church, ride around in Altheimer after moving, being passionate about his grandchildren, and enjoying family time.
Donald married his Valentine, Connie Morris, on February 13, 1988 and spent his life with her starting in Altheimer, Arkansas and ended in Pine Bluff. They shared many happy times and some not so good, but they weathered the storms of life together for over 30 years.
Halftime
Coach Rob accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age and united with Jerusalem #3 Church in Gethsemane, Arkansas, under the leadership of Pastor John L. McCombs. After moving from Dudley Lake, he united with the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he was an active Deacon Board member, Junior and later Kindergarten Sunday School teacher, the van driver and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent until his health failed. He was a teacher's aide at Altheimer High School, along with Softball, Football, Basketball, and Track coach, and a bus driver for many years. He was very passionate about being a mentor to Altheimer kids by being the founder of the Willie Wonder Kids, Altheimer Lil' Reds, and the Little Twisters. He was the City of Altheimer Alderman, and then Mayor for two consecutive terms from 2007-2012.
3rd Quarter
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lecester Robinson, Robert Cecil Robinson, and Lee Tom Robinson, Jr.; and sisters-Shirley (Robinson) Stevenson, Swayzine (Robinson) Goins, Cherry Robinson, Mabellean (Robinson) Rucker and Orzine Robinson.
4* Quarter
He leaves to cherish his wife of 36 years-Connie Robinson; his daughter; Chelsea T. Robinson of White Hall, Arkansas; son; Donald Robinson, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; his grandchildren-Cherod and Camdyn Jones both of White Hall, Arkansas; siblings-Erma Robinson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and Godsey Robinson (Janice) of Little Rock, Arkansas;
Special son - Derrick (Poke Chop) Strickland; his mother-in-law - Martha (Neat) Morris; two sisters-in-law-Minnie Robinson and Josephine Robinson; one brother-in-law—Lynward Stevenson, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, FRIENDS 4 LIFE (Class of'74) and the extended Altheimer community who will truly miss him.
